What do we have, exactly?
A typical college football team carries 80-85 scholarship players. Kansas will start with around 65, counting the walk-ons who have earned scholarships. Will the Jayhawks have enough to field a capable team?
David Beaty's problem is similar in concept to other teams with new coaches. Hard work makes players quit. Discipline for off-the-field problems results in a few more departures. Others are just tired of losing. KU's problem is worse because the team had minimal depth in the first place. Among the attrition this offseason: starting quarterback (injury), a running back (team rules), a wide receiver (arrested), the starting RG (unknown), a backup guard (medical), a starting DL (unknown), starting LB (medical), and starting safety (transfer).
